In this video I'll show you how Lenovo and Motorola are 'on a roll' with their concept devices this year.

I had a chance to play with one of the rollables at Mobile World Congress and I was more than impressed.

I know they are concept devices but they appeared to me at least - very advanced - and I would like to think are closer to reality than many may think.

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we discussed Ford and Volkswagen pulling their funding from ARGO AI, an autonomous vehicle technology company.

The decision by Ford and Volkswagen to pull out ARGO AI is significant, as together they pumped 3.6 billion US dollars into the business. Ford is going to put its money into driver assist technology rather than full-blown AI driving, which many now believe is decades away from becoming a reality on our roads.

It’s Dyson’s first cordless vacuum to feature the next-generation motor, spinning at up to 135,000 RPM but it’s also a fully sealed system - and that’s important for our lungs. The machine features a fully sealed, whole-machine HEPA filtration system, engineered to capture 99.99% of particles down to 0.1 microns.

LastPass - one of the world’s biggest password managers - has 25 million users worldwide, including many Australians. I am one of them. So what do we do? The company said there was no evidence that this incident involved any access to customer data or encrypted password vaults. While embarrassing - LastPass deserves credit for being upfront about the incident. The system is working normally.

We showed a public safety demo that looked like something out of a Jason Bourne movie. . Motorola Solutions put on the demo to show how security cameras and police work together to solve crimes and respond to disasters. Using body cameras and the latest CCTV cameras they showed how a team in a control room can track down criminals in real time and communicate effectively with first responders. All the relevant video is saved for evidence.

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we looked at the Australian release of the ECOVACS DEEBOT X1 OMNI robot vacuum cleaner. It’s the smartest robot vacuum cleaner you can buy and it will cost $2 499 AUD.

It takes direct voice commands - extra to Google and Alexa, sweeps, vacuums and mops. After each cleaning round the base station automatically washes the mop and dries it using hot air to remove odours when working in humid environments. Automatically stores the wastewater after cleaning the mop, automatically empties dust bag and refills the water tank with clean water.

In our recent segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Gabriella Power) we looked Google’s annual health event “The Check up” and the company’s emphasis on body sensors. Currently patients recovering from knee surgery attend a gait lab for 3D motion capture. But Google is hoping to get similar results by using existing USB-dongle-sized sensors. These sensors would track relevant metrics, like knee angular velocity. This data, collected 24/7, would then be used to improve the recovery process. As the owner of bad knees - this is great news.

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we looked at how Webfleet’s telematics technology and traditional driving lessons are combining to make better learner drivers.

The in-vehicle technology will capture precise detail of any dangerous driving behaviours that occur during the lesson, such as speeding around a corner, harsh braking or oversteering to avoid an overlooked hazard.

Failing to stop was indicated to be the most common error reported on practical driving tests across Australia. However, in New South Wales, failing to look over a shoulder proved to be the most common error.

Of course there were many phones there but we saw very few major reveals. The convention has become something a little different. Connectivity is about more than phones with the expanse of 5G globally. So laptops and hybrid devices are sharing the limelight with ‘traditional’ smartphones.

TCL made its mark during the week with a range of devices including - yes - phones.
