If you're in the market for a military grade tough phone without the bulk, then check out the latest  IIIF150  Ultra Thin Rugged Phones.

In this video I got hands on with several models checking out the toughness and water resistance capabilities.

They are impressively thin considering how tough they are in and out of the water.

Image Matrix Tech on Sky News: Samsung QD-OLED reviewed - Australia gets Google Play Games PC beta - Cricut hat press is hi-tech father's day fun

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) took a look at Samung’s new QD-OLED TV, S95B. Samsung is the world’s biggest TV company and by re-entering the OLED market it will force downward pressure on prices on traditional OLED models.

I spent some time with the 65 inch S95B this week and it’s easily the best TV that Samsung makes. It uses QD-OLED technology which combines Quantum Dot and OLED for an ever better picture result than normal OLED sets.

Image Matrix Tech on News: Easter road trip mobile coverage tips - INABOX QR storage - GoPro Volta Handgrip - Ultimate Gaming Bed

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we looked at mobile coverage for Easter road trips. A cheap city plan may leave many travellers out of range on bush roads. This is where area coverage not population coverage matters. Australia is 7.7 million km² and Telstra covers 2.6 million km² - one million more than nearest rival Optus.

Clearly Telstra offers more coverage but you don’t need a Telstra account to take advantage of that wider service area. There’s a simple ‘hack’ without leaving your current provider that works fine in city areas. And that ‘hack’ is buying a Boost pre-paid sim. Boost is the only MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) that has access to Telstra’s entire network, excluding 5G which isn’t relevant in this discussion.

If you are already with Telstra you can get devices to boost coverage but you’re looking at another thousand dollars. I tested the CEL-FI Go on the fringe of Telstra’s network last year and it works. A quick look at coverage maps will show you there are still plenty of gaps out there so if you’re going off the main roads - take into account your mobile phone coverage. Or .. get a satellite phone.

Image Matrix Tech on Sky News: Where were all the phones at MWC? - Surface Laptop Studio arrives in Australia and Gran Turismo 7

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we looked at Mobile World Congress and asked, “where were all the phones?”

Of course there were many phones there but we saw very few major reveals. The convention has become something a little different. Connectivity is about more than phones with the expanse of 5G globally. So laptops and hybrid devices are sharing the limelight with ‘traditional’ smartphones.

TCL made its mark during the week with a range of devices including - yes - phones.

Plus many other phone launches are happening before and after MWC in Barcelona. OPPO made jaw-dropping leap in fast charging. 240 Watts capable of charging a 4500 mAh battery from 0-100% in just nine minutes.
