In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we showed OPPO new flip phone, the Find N2 Flip. It’s set to draw plenty of interest at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona over the next few days. The OPPO Find N2 Flip is coming to Australia and it’s a direct challenger to Samsung’s Flip4 and Motorola Razr. 

The new Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra now shoots 8K video in 30p, up from 24p. As you will see in this video, the S23 Ultra is on a tripod but it also does some panning and tilting without missing a beat. On a bright, sunny afternoon on Sydney Harbour the 8K is outstanding for a smartphone. The field of view is wider too but not quite wide enough to get the tallest building in shot. Although YouTube may not do it justice, the original files have no banding in the blue sky or artefacts in the water movement. Overall, this is impressive. Here are my first impressions of the Samsung S23 series unpacked today. My focus is the Ultra and its insane 200MP main sensor. Samsung is taking Apple head on in the mobile video category. So far I'm impressed but in-depth testing will give us a better idea in a few weeks. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Also the last shot is a track of a plane. They would have had a great view ⚡️

In the United States last year, 210 million packages went missing. As Australians spend more than 6 billion dollars on Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals this weekend .. authorities are warning about a rise in parcel theft. In this segment we show how doorbell cameras like Ring and Google Nest (my current choice) are realtime deterrents.

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we warned Black Friday and Cyber Monday bargain hunters that a quarter of Australia’s top online retailers are not doing enough to protect consumers from cyber crime. Black Friday sales begin this week but one wrong link could end up costing you a lot more. Cybersecurity company Proofpoint has found one in four (25%) of Australia’s top 100 online retailers are not taking appropriate measures to protect consumers from potential email fraud and cyber crime.

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we covered security flaws found in a popular brand of home surveillance cameras that could allow hackers to steal images and take control of the device. A recent investigation by the security company Bitdefender found these flaws. They found it’s possible for hackers to remotely control some EZVIZ cameras and even download images from them.

Take a first look at GoPro Hero 11 Black on Sydney Harbour as I test out the new 8:7 sensor and 10-bit upgrade. This really feels like a 'pro' action cam now that we have 10-bit recording and a sensor that supports multiple aspect ratios without sacrificing resolution. The new night effects are absolutely brilliant.

Here's the first of a couple of videos on the Fujifilm X-H2. It's the new hi-res APS-C camera from Fujifilm and it's available later this month for a RRP of $3399 AUD. In this unboxing you'll see how it resembles its sister-camera the X-H2S. While the X-H2S is built for fast action, the X-H2 is built for resolution in stills and video thanks to a back-illuminated 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor and the high-speed X-Processor 5.

Apple announced four new iPhones today (iPhone 14 | iPhone 14 Plus | iPhone 14 Pro | iPhone 14 Pro Max) but as always it’s the cameras that grab the attention of Image Matrix Tech - so this story is all about the pro line. The iPhone 14 Pro breaks free from the 12MP tradition in the main camera for the first time. Apple has long held firm on tweaking its 12MP sensors - with great results mind you - but this is a big move that will see more changes in coming devices .. hopefully a periscope zoom.

In Sunday's segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we reported live from Kuala Lumpur* about the rising demand for security cameras around the world and how they are being deployed. We showed a public safety demo that looked like something out of a Jason Bourne movie. . Motorola Solutions put on the demo to show how security cameras and police work together to solve crimes and respond to disasters. Using body cameras and the latest CCTV cameras they showed how a team in a control room can track down criminals in real time and communicate effectively with first responders. All the relevant video is saved for evidence.

DJI has just made the battle better cameras and gimbals at lot easier for creators. I stepped away from gimbals for several years but now I’m back after seeing what DJI has produced in the RS 3 Pro and to a lesser extent the RS 3.

Everything is faster with these gimbals. From the the new automated axis lock system to one-tap calibration the RS 3 and RS 3 Pro will make the shooting process at lot smoother. DJI says its 3rd-Gen RS stabilisation algorithm improves performance by 20%.
